Sand, oil, grit, and lint interceptor tanks need regular pumping and cleaning to keep solids from entering the sewer system. These solids—known as FOGS (Fats, Oils, and Greases)—can quickly build up and cause serious issues. Many cities run FOG programs to monitor and enforce compliance. Don’t wait for an inspector to flag you. Stay ahead. Most city codes require businesses to pump their interceptors every 3 to 6 months, depending on usage.

What Is An Interceptor?

Interceptor Pumping  is a concrete trap (box) that filters the FOG from the wastewater and allows a cleaner flow of water to the sewer system. This prevents heavy backups and clogging issues within the sewer system.

A properly functioning interceptor will keep FOG levels entering the city sewer system to a minimum. The size of interceptors depends on the grease-loading fixtures inside the facility. Sometimes several establishments can go into one interceptor.

Often, interceptors require waste profiling at a local wastewater disposal facility. First, we promptly take a sample of the wastewater. Next, we profile it within 48 hours. Afterward, we can quickly schedule your pumping service. Note that profiles are valid for two years. This profiling process helps our wastewater treatment facility understand the type of waste, determine the most effective treatment method, and ensure that the liquid is non-hazardous.

Interceptors should be pumped EVERY 3-6 months depending on usage.
